The bulk of our catering is for corporate and government departments for meetings, conferences and after work functions. We are based in central Wellington where the majority of our clients are based. We also operate two central city cafes, HOME based in the National Library and HOME on Stout, one has no kitchen facilities and the other limited facilities so most of their product is produced by the catering team with daily deliveries to the cafes.
Our previous system was convoluted, a lot of information had to be copied and pasted into different documents for different team members, it was very time consuming and with so many steps in the process there were many opportunities for mistakes to happen. We only managed to use this system for so long because our Catering Manager at the time was very accurate and made few mistakes. The volume of paper used was also a significant issue for us. This system relied on one person so if they were away it could be very messy!
When we chose FoodStorm it was as though someone had been watching us and just waiting for us to find them. The implementation process went really well with excellent communication between everyone – the FoodStorm team were very considerate with all the tweaks we wanted. They even guided us through the change of some of our old processes and reports to be easier and more efficient.
Since implementing FoodStorm our customers adapted really easily, many of them enjoy being able to order online and have commented on the benefits of receiving acknowledgement of their orders straight away and seeing costs as they order. As we expected, internally the change took a bit longer to adapt to, but ultimately was well received with the benefits of FoodStorm improving kitchen processes. Now with more people able to manage catering orders the Catering Manager has time to meet clients and focus on other projects.
